Professor Moez Chafra, President of the University of Tunis El Manar since 2020, has led a sweeping modernization of the institution, implementing streamlined governance structures, attaining ISO 9001 certification, and overseeing a comprehensive digital transformation of academic and administrative services. He championed a campus-wide Green Ideas competition that mobilized students and faculty to develop sustainable solutions in energy, waste management, and biodiversity—reinforcing UTM’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
An accomplished engineer and researcher, Prof. Chafra directs the Applied Mechanics and Systems Research Laboratory (LASMAP), where he advances cutting-edge work in hard coatings (CrAlN films), micro- and nano-systems, and biomechanical modeling. With over 38 peer-reviewed publications and nearly 300 citations to his name, he has garnered international recognition and, in April 2024, led a high-level delegation to Macau University of Science and Technology to forge new exchange programs and joint research initiatives—fostering global partnerships that enhance UTM’s impact in engineering, environmental science, and emerging technologies.
